Jerry was born an artist in 1943……..
Jerry’s first major work of art was created almost 80 years ago on the living room wall. It was a 4ft. x 2 ft. mural using oil pastels. Back then they were called crayons. It was met with mixed reviews. His mother loved it. His father not so much…….
At “career day” in 7th grade, Jerry realized that supporting himself as a full-time artist may not be practical and decided to consider his career options. He knew he wanted to be self-employed to allow him time to pursue his passion for art. Jerry chose a career in dentistry. While at the University of Nebraska, he was fortunate to study sculpture under the instruction of David Seyler, one of the few instructors in the United States teaching figurative sculpture.
In the last 20 years of his dental practice, Jerry worked part-time as a dentist and full-time as an artist.
He has been represented by galleries in Scottsdale. He teaches at Scottsdale Artists’ School while creating joy and magic by capturing the beauty that surrounds him with his sculpture, painting and photography in his Paradise Valley Arizona studio.
